Poem: How to start a conversation about mental health

To support Time to Talk Day on 3 February 2022, our Creative Writing Group led by Michele has come up with a series of wonderful and heartfelt pieces discussing mental health.

This second piece is a poem called “How to start a mental health conversation” written by Sasha.

“It can start with just a cup of tea

A simple smile, so I know you really see me

Offering a gentle touch, allowing me to be sad

Being patient and non-judgmental when I’m angry or mad

Listening, so I truly can be heard

Speaking with empathy, so I can take in your word

Just being here honestly, discovering a kinder way

So I can be there for you too, one day.”
